UserTesting (‘’) is a GPT site that claims to pay you $10 – $60 for testing websites.

Although UserTesting doesn’t appear to be a scam…

There are a high number of complaints on Trustpilot and SiteJabber from users saying that qualifying for tasks is nearly impossible.

Overall: potentially a waste of time.

  • Good rates of pay on paper.
  • Free to join.

  • Lots of complaints about not being able to qualify for tasks.
  • Poor user reviews on Trustpilot and SiteJabber.

Welcome to my review.

I discovered UserTesting on the Indeed job site.

Where the job description said that you can get paid to test websites from home.

Which sounds great.

The only problem is that several work from home job opportunities that I’ve discovered on various job boards have turned out to be very misleading or even scams.

That’s why I’ve decided to take a closer look at UserTesting to see if it’s legit or not.

Here’s what I discovered.

What is UserTesting?

UserTesting primarily provides B2B (business-to-business) services.

Allowing big name brands like Facebook, eBay, Twitter (and many more) to get feedback on their websites, apps, and other products from real users like yourself.

This process is facilitated by offering successful applicants the opportunity to record their voice and screen as they navigate the aforementioned websites and apps whilst providing feedback in real time.

And you’ll supposedly be paid for your efforts.

How Do You Make Money With UserTesting?

If you’re interested in making money testing websites?

Then UserTesting thus takes on the role of a GPT (‘get paid to’) site.

Where you’ll be paid for the videos that you submit providing that they meet the required standards.

There’s also the opportunity to earn more money by having live conversations with customers.

The number of opportunities (tasks) that you can receive apparently varies according to your ‘demographic’ and ‘quality rating’.

More on ‘qualification issues’ later.

How Do You Use the UserTesting Website?

This is best demonstrated visually.

Check out this UserTesting tutorial by ‘Domingo’ for a walkthrough of how you’ll be making money with UserTesting:

How Much Do You Get Paid?

You’re supposedly paid $10 for every ’20-minute video’ review that you successfully complete.

But you can also apparently earn up to $60 for a ‘live conversation’ with a customer.

How Do You Get Paid?

You’re paid by PayPal only.

UserTesting say that you’ll be paid exactly 7 days after completing a website or app test.

How Do You Join UserTesting?

You have to apply and submit a test video.

To do this, go to the UserTesting website and click the ‘get paid to test’ menu navigation.

You’ll then be able to initiate the application process by entering your email into the webform.

Can Anyone Join?

You’ll need to be 18 or over and reside in one of the approved locations.

The approved locations list is quite long.

But you can view it by using the toggle boxes on the main application page.

Do You Have to Pay to Be a Tester?

Registration to be a ‘user tester’ is free.

What Sort of Equipment Do You Need?

You’ll need a PC/Mac, a stable internet connection, and a microphone.

Is UserTesting a Scam or Legit?

On paper?

It’s my opinion that offers a legitimate way to make money online by testing websites.

As explained below…

Some of the negative user reviews that I discovered make me think that UserTesting might actually be a waste of your time.

My Thoughts On UserTesting

I’ve been using and reviewing online money-making systems since 2007.

Many of which include a range of GPT sites.

And in light of such experience…

Here are my honest opinions on UserTesting.

1: Relatively Good Rates of Pay

GPT sites typically don’t pay very well.

Even the top online survey sites like Swagbucks are ultimately going to earn you little more than pennies on the hour over the long run.

Which makes earning $10 per video actually pretty good.

And $60 for a live call with a customer one of the best offers I’ve seen from a GPT site that isn’t a blatant data harvesting scam.

2: Not a Reliable Source of Income

Even though the rates of pay are very good in a relative sense.

Do NOT view UserTesting as a reliable source of income.

Because it’s been my personal experience that the better paying GPT sites typically have fewer offers.

Plus, the work volumes with most GPT sites are typically inconsistent.

3: Qualification Might Be An Issue

I’ve provided examples in the next section…

But a number of users complained that they either got rejected for nearly every task…

Or couldn’t get their money.

What Do Others Think About UserTesting?

To my surprise?

The vast majority of the UserTesting reviews that I found online were negative.

UserTesting has a ‘poor’ score on Trustpilot based on 17 reviews at the time of writing.

And the 64 reviews left on SiteJabber amounted to a rating of just 2 stars out of 5.

Good UserTesting Reviews

One of the positive reviews that I saw on SiteJabber said that he’s been earning $300 – $400 a month with UserTesting.

Which is pretty amazing for a GPT site.

I have no idea if this is a real review or not.

Here are a few more that I found:

Bad UserTesting Reviews

The number of negative reviews for UserTesting greatly outweighs the positive ones.

And it’s not being able to qualify for tasks that seems to be the most prevalent issue.

With one user saying that they’ve not been able to complete a SINGLE review in the TWO YEARS they’ve been a member!

Conclusion: Falls Short of Expectations

In my opinion?

I felt that UserTesting was shaping up to be one of the best GPT sites that I’d ever seen.

But unfortunately…

The high number of user reviews that repeatedly cite not being able to qualify for a task means that earning $10 or $60 no longer looks like such a good deal.

So whilst I do feel that UserTesting is a legitimate company on the whole…

It would appear that their customer experience is sadly very lacking.

The bottom line?

It’s not going to cost you any money to try out UserTesting.

So feel free to give it a shot and let me know how you get on in the comments section at the end of the post.

  • Good rates of pay on paper.
  • Free to join.

  • Lots of complaints about not being able to qualify for tasks.
  • Poor user reviews on Trustpilot and SiteJabber.

What’s the Alternative to UserTesting?

I hate to say it…

But UserTesting pretty much sums up my experience with GPT sites overall.

Where despite the promise of handsome rewards upfront…

I’ve ultimately ended up wasting a lot of my time for little more than a bit of extra pocket money here and there.

That’s why I now focus 100% on my affiliate business.

Because although I had to work very hard for the first few months with ZERO money to show for it…

The results began to compound after 6-8 months of hard work.

Where creating reviews and blog posts has resulted in close to 12,000 visits to my website in a single day…

And my income has increased exponentially as a result.
