How Reviews Are Created

A lot of time and effort goes into creating Our product reviews.

Here’s some examples of how We create the content of Our reviews.

1: Personal Experience

We aim to purchase or sign up to a product wherever possible.

This allows Us to provide unique insights that may not be found anywhere else.

Thus allowing Us to reach more robust conclusions.

In some cases, it may not be possible or practical to purchase or use the product.

Some reasons may include:

  • The product or service is widely known to be of very low quality;
  • We have reviewed similar products and understand how this product will behave;
  • The product is too expensive.

If We have not bought a product or service, We take this into account when reaching Our conclusions and awarding ‘ratings’.

2: Aggregated Experience

We also take into consideration the results and opinions of others who have used the product or service (if We can find them).

We often link to external sources and/or provide screenshots so that you can factor these into your final buying decision.

3: Further Research

We also perform wider research to investigate underlying strategies, systems, software, and anything else related to the product or service being reviewed.

For example, We may use the findings of reputable sources like the FTC and FCA to identify known ‘scam models’ to see if the product or service resembles such.

How Conclusions Are Reached

We think carefully before publishing Our conclusions.

On the one hand, We take great care as to not misrepresent the product or service in question…

But also provide honest insights that may help you, the customer, make a better buying decision.

We aim to do this by:

  • Sticking to the objective facts as much as possible;
  • Linking to resources that substantiate Our conclusions;
  • Providing as much evidence as possible to support Our argument;
  • Stating clearly when a conclusion has been reached based on Our experience;
  • Stating clearly what is Our opinion.

Ratings and Rankings Explained

Here is an explanation as to what the different rankings and ratings mean.

We have reason to believe that, all points considered, this product has the capacity to benefit a certain audience.

2: Not Recommended

We have reason to believe that, all points considered, this product confers very little or NO benefit.

3: Caution Advised

We have reason to believe that the product MAY provide some benefit.

But may come with some caveats.

Or, there may be some unaddressed concerns that We were unable to get to the bottom of.

This may be the case when the review was based heavily on research and little or no direct experience.

4: Scam

We have reason to believe that this product has been marketed deceptively and/or is very likely to result in a financial loss – or other harmful outcome – to yourself.

When We do, it’s because there is strong supporting evidence.

We may link to authoritative articles and/or other user experiences to substantiate Our claim as much as possible.

5: Probable Scam

We have reason to believe that this product or service is a ‘scam’ but We have insufficient evidence to reach such a robust conclusion.

A product or service that is a ‘probable scam’ may closely mirror other proven scams…

Or have been created by people who are known for dishonest behaviour.

6: Numbered Rankings

Products are ranked according to their rating ‘out of 5’ for their designated category.

7: N/A Ratings

N/A ratings are awarded when We feel that it’s unfair to judge the product absolutely.

This may happen if the review was based heavily on external research…

And/or if We were unable to properly assess the performance of a key metric.

Review Limitations

Our reviews are designed to be both fair and helpful.

However, they have some limitations.

For example:

1: Results Are Not Guaranteed

If We recommend a product based on Our positive experience with the product – or the positive experiences of others – this is not a guarantee of your own success.

3: Misrepresentation

Every effort is made to provide a review that reflects the product or service as accurately as possible.

Unfortunately, this sometimes means highlighting the bad points.

However, good or bad, We try to back Our points and conclusions up with as much objective evidence as possible.
