What’s the most frustrating thing about Pinecone Research?

Trying to join up!

You see, Pinecone Research won’t let just anyone sign up and become a member.

(More on this soon).

And because I’ve not been able to get in.

I’ve had to do a fair bit of digging around to write this Pinecone Research review.

In order to help you find out if Pinecone Research is a scam or not.

Here’s what I discovered.

What is Pinecone Research?

Pinecone Research is an exclusive online survey and product testing platform.

I say ‘exclusive’ because you’ll need to be ‘invited’ to become a Pinecone Research panellist.

Via a special link or banner on a (seemingly random) third-party website.

And once your application has been approved.

You’ll be emailed with opportunities to complete surveys and test products.

The Nielsen Company owns the Pinecone Research Panel.

Nielsen Holdings is a multi-billion dollar company that’s been in business since 1923 [source].

Is Pinecone Research a Scam?

No.

They are a legit company.

However, there are many Pinecone Research ‘copycat’ scams.

Where spoof websites are created in an effort to leverage Pinecone’s exclusivity.

The real Pinecone Research website can be found at:

https://www.pineconeresearch.com

And Pinecone Research UK can be found here:

How Do You Join Pinecone Research?

You need to go through an ‘invite’ link or Pinecone Research banner.

Unfortunately, I don’t have access to either of them – so I can’t invite you. 🙁

However, Pinecone Research state that:

‘…we will be posting recruitment opportunities through banner ads on various unsolicited websites from time to time throughout the year. If you see one of these ads, please feel free to sign up with us.’

Source: Pinecone Research FAQs.

So basically.

You’ll have to keep Googling ‘Pinecone Research invite links/banners’ and hope that you find a website that offers them.

Are All Pinecone Research Applications Approved?

Apparently not.

In order to get approved, you’ll need to be the ‘right’ demographic relative to the merchant’s preferences.

In other words.

There’s no real way to ‘hack’ the Pinecone application process as far as I’m aware.

Are All Locations Accepted?

No.

Pinecone Research will only approve your application if you reside in the USA, Canada, France or Germany.

UK residents used to be accepted.

But as far as I can tell, this region has been removed from the list of eligible locations.

How Much Does Pinecone Research Pay?

The going rate appears to be $3 – $5 per survey.

And ‘product tests’ can earn you as much as $6 per review.

This is considerably more than what I’ve personally seen from the other more common rewards websites like Swagbucks.

Does Pinecone Research Pay Out in Points?

Yes.

Points can be redeemed as either cash or gift cards.

To do this, log into your membership area, click ‘Redeem My Points’, and complete the checkout process.

Rewards are processed and credited to your account in 3-5 business days.

PayPal payments will be processed in 3-5 working days.

Points remain valid until a period of 12 consecutive months with ‘no earning activity’ is logged.

How Long Do Surveys Take to Complete?

Around 10-20 minutes seems to be the average.

However, surveys are supposedly infrequent in their volume these days.

Can Panellists Be Removed?

Yes.

Even if you get in – you’re not ‘good’ forever!

Pinecone states that they often ‘refresh’ their panellists to keep their ‘opinion-pool’ relevant to their clients’ needs.

You may also voluntarily remove yourself from the panel at any time.

Pinecone Research Reviews

The general consensus appears to be that Pinecone Research was once the best ‘survey’ site around.

However, things have apparently gone ‘downhill’ from around 2018 onwards.

With several folks being unable to access their accounts.

And existing panellists experiencing problems with missed payments, poor communication, and a decreasing volume of offers.

Here are few individual ‘good’ and ‘bad’ user reviews that I’ve picked out.

Pinecone Research BBB Review

One source said that Pinecone Research had an ‘A+’ rating on the BBB site.

However, when I checked, Pinecone has since been downgraded to an ‘F’. 🙁

More details here.

Pinecone Research Review Conclusion

I’m a bit disappointed to be honest.

And not just because Pinecone Research no longer appears to be active in the UK.

(Therefore rendering me ineligible to participate).

But because most people feel that this company no longer offers a good customer experience.

Despite having once been considered the best in the ‘online survey’ game.

Here are the pros and cons as I see it:

Pros

  • Well-paid surveys;
  • Run by a well-established company;
  • Free to join.

Cons

  • Invite only;
  • Limited eligibility;
  • Can be removed from the panel;
  • Limited number of surveys;
  • Reports of missed payments;
  • Some users can’t log in;
  • Apparently poor communication.

3 Pinecone Research Alternatives

Given that it’s so damn hard to join up.

I thought that I’d provide you with three legit Pinecone Research alternatives.

I’ve personally used all three.

And I’ve linked off to further resources to help you get started.

1: Affiliate Marketing

This is my number one solution for making money online.

Simply because it’s free to start.

And just about anyone can do it.

For example, I earned more than $10,000 from one of my affiliate websites in a single year:

Clickbank Affiliate Earnings 2017

Plus, this income was mostly passive.

However, it takes a fair bit of time to make money with affiliate marketing.

But if you join my FREE email course here.

I’ll show you how to speed things up massively.

2: Other Rewards Websites

To be fair.

I think you’ll already have tried this option.

But there are a plethora of other ‘rewards’ websites out there.

Probably one of the ‘best’ that I’ve personally used is 20Cogs.

Although survey sites pale in comparison to matched betting in my opinion.

3: Matched Betting (UK Only)

This is my number one strategy for making money fast online.

The only downside is that you need to be in the UK for it to work.

However, I’ve personally cleared more than £2,000 in a month from matched betting.

And I’ll explain how to get started.
