To make this strategy work – you’re going to need access to a high-quality keyword tool.
Personally, I’ve found Google’s Keyword Planner to be too broad in the metrics it returns.

Step 1: Define Your Topics
Make a list of all the topics that are relevant to your website.
A good starting point is to use the WordPress ‘categories’ that you’ve defined for your site.
As you find keywords that you want to rank for – you can add them to your own custom topic lists inside Jaaxy:

The Alphabet Soup Tool
Go to the ‘Alphabet Soup’ tool inside Jaaxy.
Type one of your topics into the search bar and hit ‘Find Keywords’.
This will instantly generate the exact search terms that people are typing into Google for your topic.
The results are organised by letter.
For example, ‘ecommerce’ + [a, b, c, d … z].
The only caveat here is that the resulting keyword MUST be grammatically correct and it must make sense.
Step 3: Pick Out the Low Hanging Fruit
The next step is to pick out the keywords that you can easily rank for.
Scan the list for keywords that you want to create content around.
And click ‘Search on This’ to bring up the detailed metrics for that term.
Tip: use the ‘Ctrl’ button on your keyboard to open up multiple tabs without losing the search results page.
Understand the Metrics
Click on ‘Get QSR’ for the keyword and you’ll get instant access to the following metrics for the keyword:
- Avg – average number of searches per month;
- Traffic – average visits to your website if you rank on page one for that keyword;
- QSR (‘quoted search results’) – the number of competing domains;
- KQI (‘keyword quality indicator’) – a simplified metric that classifies the overall quality of the keyword;
- SEO – based on the traffic and competition, the closer this value is to 100 – the better your chances of ranking for it.
How to Find the Best Keywords
To find the best SEO keywords that you can rank for – look for terms that meet the following criteria:
- Avg – at least 50 searches per month;
- QSR – less than 100;
- KQI – ‘great’.
Here’s a perfect example of a great ‘low hanging fruit’ keyword that would get you traffic to your web hosting and/or design business:

50 searches per month for a keyword isn’t exactly a lot.
But because these low hanging fruit keywords are so easy to rank for – you can quickly scale your results by targeting a high volume of these low-competition terms.
Give it time, and you’ll start to see your traffic climbing steadily in Google Analytics.
The alternative is to go after broad, ‘short-head’ keywords that are far more difficult to rank for.
Plus, by going ‘long-tail’ – you can solve user-specific problems more effectively.

Just repeat the steps above to keep generating low-competition keywords that you can rank for.
I find that the most efficient way to do this is in batches.
For example, I’ll spend an hour generating keywords using the above technique.
And I’ll save them to my topic lists inside Jaaxy.

But here’s three more things that you can do to speed up the ranking process.
Bonus 1: Perform SERP Analysis
Jaaxy’s algorithms have already taken into consideration the strength of the competition that you’re up against for each keyword.
But it’s always a good idea to do a manual search for the keyword and click on every entry for the first page of results.
Spend time reading each post to get a gist of the context, the points covered, and if you think that the user’s intent has been effectively addressed.
This SERP (‘search engine results page’) analysis will give you more insight as to how you can create content that’s more helpful than what’s already out there.
In doing so, not only will you rank better – your visitors will be more engaged.

That’s why the primary, long-tailed keyword that you picked out in Step 3 above needs to be in:
- Your page title;
- The URL;
- The H1 tag;
- The meta-areas;
- The first paragraph of your copy.
But Google also Loves Uniqueness
And so do your readers.
That’s why I like to add a bit more to the title of my posts to give it context.
I use the following syntax:
‘[primary keyword] + [contextual sub-element]’
In my product reviews, I’ll often answer a burning question that relates to the product.
‘[Name of product] review – can it really help you make more money in less time?’
I’ll then go ahead and review the product and address the sub-element in detail.
Fulfil Your Promise
It’s absolutely crucial that your content fulfils the reader’s expectations exactly.
Clickbait may work on social media.
But effective SEO is based upon specificity.
Which means delivering what you promised in the keyword driven title.
Bonus 3: Spark User Engagement
Google likes websites that have a lot of relevant comments and social shares.
And If you’ve done the above steps correctly.
Getting users to comment and share your content should come naturally.
But you can also explicitly ask your readers to leave on-page comments in relation to a specific point.
