I’ll be honest.

I know pretty much nothing about CBD products.

But I’ve got a lot of experience when it comes to trying to make money online with various ‘business opportunities’ and programmes.

So, if you’re sat there wondering if the HempWorx affiliate program is a legitimate way to make money… you’ll want to read on.

Because in this HempWorx review…

I’ll be explaining how the HempWorx affiliate scheme works.

Specifically in relation to illegal pyramid schemes, MLM (multi level marketing), and some of the issues you can expect to face when trying to promote HempWorx products for a profit.

What is the HempWorx Affiliate Program?

The HempWorx affiliate program is presented as a ‘business in a box’ solution.

Where the claims on the ‘free business tour’ page (‘hempworxbizop.com/buy’) say that you’ll be able to ‘make your own hours’, ‘get paid up to 85% on all business volume’ that you generate, but without having the ‘traditional business hassles’.

I’ll get into the pros and cons of running this type of business in the second half of this Hemp Worx review.

But before then, I need to explain to you how the HempWorx affiliate program is structured.

Because it’s not ACTUALLY what I would consider to be a straight up affiliate scheme.

Allow me to explain.

Is HempWorx an MLM?

Yes.

The business model used by HempWorx is that of multi level marketing (‘MLM’).

MLM business models are structured in a way so that when an ‘affiliate’ recruits someone into the business that person then forms part of their downline.

Downlines mean that you can profit not only from the direct sales of the company’s products made by yourself – but also from the sales made by those in your downline.

Downlines can extend to multiple tiers.

Which means that those with the largest downlines make the most money because they’re taking a cut of the sales made by a greater number of people.

Is HempWorx a Pyramid Scheme?

No.

Whilst the cash flow in an MLM does closely mirror that of an illegal pyramid scheme, MLMs that adhere to the correct guidelines are technically legal.

This is typically achieved by allowing people to make money by selling the company’s products directly to customers for a profit – without the need to recruit anyone.

But many MLMs do run into legal trouble when their focus becomes significantly biased towards the recruitment aspect ahead of direct sales.

How Does MLM Compare to Affiliate Marketing?

Although HempWorx has labelled their rewards scheme as an ‘affiliate program’ I personally think this is a tiny bit misleading.

Because the single tier affiliate marketing model doesn’t allow for the formation of downlines – since you instead profit by recommending others to buy products through your unique referral link.

Most affiliate programs will allow you to do this WITHOUT having bought the product yourself.

But in order to become a HempWorx affiliate you must pay a $20 ‘activation fee’ to be able to participate in the compensation plan.

And as far as I can tell, you have to then buy a product package to promote.

These packages cost between $59 and $599.

How Does the HempWorx Compensation Plan Work?

MLM compensation plans are usually pretty complicated to the uninitiated.

You can view the official HempWorx compensation plan documentation here.

But to make things a bit easier for you, I’ve summarised some of the key points below:

  • Enrol as a Preferred Customer or Affiliate.
  • Preferred Customers only pay for products.
  • Preferred Customers can purchase products at 25% off retail price.
  • Affiliates must pay $20 to access the compensation plan.
  • Affiliates get a replicated website, back office, and welcome kit.
  • Commissions are paid on product orders only – not activation or enrollment fees.
  • Binary plan with no flushing.

Is HempWorx a Scam or Legit Way to Make Money?

Technically?

HempWorx is a legitimate way to make money and not a scam.

This is because the business model being used is legal and people ARE actually making money using the HempWorx affiliate program.

How Much Money Can You Make With HempWorx?

Unlike many MLMs that try to hide their Income Disclosure Statement from easy viewing…

I was pleased to see that HempWorx have included a chart at the end of the Compensation Plan that shows how much money people are making as a HempWorx affiliate.

I’ve reproduced this for your convenience below…

And I’ll explain what the figures could mean for you if you decide to become a HempWorx affiliate in just a moment.

HempWorx Complaints

I had a look around online for HempWorx complaints and testimonials from real users.

The bulk of the complaints can he found here.

Many of them were in regards to the actual products themselves, but I did see one that pertained to the affiliate programme and how they actually LOST money (more on this in just a moment):

My Opinions On Running An MLM Business

Ok.

If you’re already an MLM enthusiast then that’s cool.

I’m not going to try and dissuade you from getting involved with HempWorx or any other MLM scheme.

But if you’re an MLM newbie?

Then you might be interested in what I’ve personally discovered when I’ve looked at how MLMs operate and the typical outcomes experienced by most people.

1: Most People Don’t Make Much Money

Actually?

This is more of a ‘fact’ than an opinion.

Because if you take a look at any Income Disclosure Statement for an MLM company you’ll see that almost without exception – the vast majority of ‘affiliates’ make little to no money.

Now to be fair?

The Income Disclosure Statement that I posted earlier suggests to me that HempWorx affiliates might actually be doing quite well when compared to other MLMs.

But the numbers don’t lie.

Because you can see for yourself that 57% of all HempWorx affiliates make just $122.64 per YEAR on average.

It’s also worth noting that LESS than 1% of all HempWorx affiliates reach the ‘5K’ tier.

And those affiliates are STILL only earning $10,525 per year on average.

Can you see just how hard the MLM business structure makes it for the average person to make any sort of reasonable income with an MLM company?

2: You Might Lose Money

As I said earlier…

You have to pay upfront costs for the privilege of being able to promote HempWorx products to others for a profit.

This means that if you don’t start making sales, you could end up out of pocket by not being able to recoup the sum of your initial investment.

3: Getting Leads is Often Difficult

Here’s the thing with MLM.

You’re often forced into selling face-to-face.

This means that once you’ve exhausted selling to your friends and family, you’re going to have to start finding new leads from somewhere.

You could do this online.

But you’ll need to know how to sell online to make this a success.

And I’m unsure as to how much support and training you’ll get in this regard from HempWorx.

Conclusion: Legit – But Not For Everyone

To be totally honest?

I do think that HempWorx is actually one of the better MLMs out there.

Because they are in an industry that’s currently ‘hot’ at the moment and set to grow.

And the HempWorx compensation plan does look pretty decent.

So if you’re an MLM advocate that’s interested in selling CBD products then HempWorx might be just what you’re looking for.

But if you’re an MLM newbie?

Then you might want to check out the alternatives I’ve listed below.

Because whilst you can certainly make money with the MLM business model on paper…

Most people tend to report putting in a bunch of effort and end up making very little in the way of profits.

Pros

  • Technically possible to make money.
  • Decent MLM compensation plan.
  • CBD is a trending industry.

Cons

  • Most people don’t make much money with MLMs.
  • You could lose money.
  • Lead generation might be an issue.

What’s the Alternative to MLM?

It depends on how you’d like to make money online.

If you want to get paid for your efforts, then you might want to check out a rewards platform like 20 Cogs.

But…

If you’re looking for something that could give you the high-end earning potential of MLM but without the upfront costs and risk?

Then I’d recommend affiliate marketing.

Because I was personally able to go from $0 to more than $10,000 in profit in less than 12 months by following the affiliate model.

And if you click the button below…

I’ll explain how I did it.
