I’ve been a member of ClickFunnels for a few months now.

And to be honest?

This service has transformed the way I think about making money with my websites, and has thus been directly responsible for generating more revenue for me.

But it took me quite some time to actually sign up to ClickFunnels.

Why?

Because when I first heard about ClickFunnels a few years ago – I didn’t really know what a sales funnel was.

Which meant that I didn’t really understand what ClickFunnels actually did.

Was it a standalone system that showed you how to make money online from scratch?

Was it an affiliate marketing training course – or possibly some sort of MLM scheme?

I had no idea back then.

Well…

I now know the answers to all of those questions and more.

So, if you’re sat there baffled as to what ClickFunnels is and how it can make you money – you’re in the right place.

Because in this real ClickFunnels review – I’ll be explaining everything from the ground up.

And I’ll also be walking you through the process of how you can make money with ClickFunnels – even if you’re a total novice with zero prior marketing experience.

Let’s get started.

What is ClickFunnels?

In the simplest sense?

ClickFunnels turns visitors to your website into paying customers.

More specifically, ClickFunnels is a SaaS (‘software-as-a-service’) that provides you with the tools to create online sales funnels.

This means that everything is centrally hosted on the ClickFunnels platform and you’re paying for access for everything that you need build effective sales funnels.

What is a Sales Funnel?

Sales funnels are a series of web pages that are put together in a specific sequence that guides someone from a point on your website – all the way to making a purchase.

Sales funnels can be used to sell both your own products and someone else’s (where you’re the affiliate).

But you can also use sales funnels to get people to take other valuable actions on your website – such as signing up to an email list or registering for a webinar.

The whole point of ClickFunnels is to simplify the technical aspects of creating sales funnels by making everything ‘drag and drop’.

I’ll explain more about how ClickFunnels actually works in just a moment.

Who Created ClickFunnels?

ClickFunnels was launched in October 2014 by Russell Brunson and Todd Dickerson.

The ClickFunnels website says that ‘the company has grown to $100,000,000 and 55,000 customers in the first three years’.

Russell is the face of ClickFunnels – appearing in the promo and explainer videos.

Here’s one where Russell explains what ClickFunnels is:

Video credit: Russell Brunson – ClickFunnels

Who is Russell Brunson?

Russell Brunson is an entrepreneur.

He had his first success online back in 2003 – selling the ZipBrander software that apparently drove ‘laser targeted’ traffic to websites and ‘increased backend profits’ too.

Russell’s personal website (‘russellbrunson.com’) also says that Russell made his first million dollars selling various products – including DVDs, books, coaching, supplements, technology services, and more.

And whilst Russell was able to smash the leaderboards with several network marketing companies – he apparently kept running into the same tech issues when trying to build his own sales funnels.

Hence the inception and subsequent launch of ClickFunnels.

How Do You Make Money With ClickFunnels?

I’m going to walk you through the process of actually making your first $ with ClickFunnels in the second half of this Click Funnels review.

But the basic three components for making money with ClickFunnels are:

  • A prospect with a problem.
  • A product or service with the solution.
  • An appropriate sales funnel to connect the two.

Who is ClickFunnels For?

ClickFunnels is basically a tool for helping entrepreneurs, business owners, and internet marketers generate more revenue online.

The common denominator here is the presence of a website.

With the emphasis on turning this ‘place where people get lost’ into a sales tool using funnels.

Now, if you’re sat there with no website or business to speak of – hang tight.

Because I’ll show you how you can start your business and get a website set up very shortly.

Otherwise?

If you already have a business with a web presence in any of the following areas – you can jump right in to ClickFunnels and start growing your business right away:

  • Agency.
  • Freelancer.
  • Ecommerce store.
  • Digital product owner.
  • Consulting.
  • Network marketing (MLM).
  • Local small businesses.
  • Blogger/affiliate marketer.
  • B2B lead gen.

Will ClickFunnels Work For Your Type of Business?

Are you (or should you be!) collecting leads and creating customers?

Then almost certainly yes – ClickFunnels can help you do this BETTER online.

Because if you’re NOT capturing leads and making sales in the online space – then your business is likely dying and soon to be DEAD.

But if you’re behind the curve – don’t worry.

Because when you join up to ClickFunnels, the first thing that you should do is download the Funnel Hackers Cookbook.

Where Russell will not only explain how every single funnel works in precise detail…

He actually tells you SPECIFICALLY how each funnel can benefit YOUR specific business type.

Here’s a screenshot example for the ‘squeeze page funnel’:

How Does ClickFunnels Work?

ClickFunnels hosts everything on their site.

This means that you build your funnels on a ClickFunnels subdomain that you can then link to from your own website or chosen traffic source – such as a Facebook ad or other paid placement.

There is the option to use your own custom domain name so that you’re not forced to use the .clickfunnels subdomain.

The basic funnel building process is as follows.

1: Choose Your Funnel Type

Once you’ve logged in, you’ll be presented with your main dashboard area.

This may seem a bit overwhelming at first but all you need to do is select ‘build funnel’ from the dropdown menu or use the green button in the middle of the screen.

Screenshot-of-the-ClickFunnels-menu-navigation.

You’ll then be asked to choose your funnel type.

But before doing this, I strongly recommend that you download the ‘Funnel Hacker’s Cookbook’ PDF using the button at the top of the screen.

This will teach you how ClickFunnels works in terms of the funnel elements, pages, and the purpose of each funnel type.

You can then go ahead and select the funnel type – or choose to build your own from scratch.

There are 22 premade funnels for you to choose from.

Screenshot of different ClickFunnel funnel types.

2: Select Your Theme

Once you’ve selected the type of funnel that you’d like to build – you can then choose from a selection of different themes.

These can be customised to your liking during the next step.

You’ll also find a short video at the top of the page from Russell that briefly explains what the purpose of the funnel is and how to get the most out of it.

Screenshot of three different ClickFunnels free themes.

3: Build Your Funnel

Once you’ve selected your theme, the pages will automatically be generated in the required sequence for you.

You can then go ahead and customise each page to your requirements using the page builder software.

Once your funnel is complete, you can link to it from your chosen traffic source using the URL provided.

What Do You Get With ClickFunnels?

What is Actionetics?

Actionetics is an additional feature that’s only available when you subscribe to the Etison Suite plan.

Actionetics basically gives you more control over your marketing specificity and list automation.

For example, Actionetics allows you to talk to your subscribers with more individualised marketing messages.

This is possible because the Actionetics program goes out and pulls really detailed analytics from your leads’ online activity.

Here’s a more thorough explanation from Russell in regards to how Actionetics works:

What is Backpack?

Backpack is another feature that’s exclusive to the Etison Suite subscription plan.

Backpack is an affiliate platform that allows product owners to add affiliate programs to their funnels.

Here’s a more detailed explanation as to how Backpack works:

How Much Does ClickFunnels Cost?

The standard plan costs $97 per month.

The complete Etison Suite costs $297 per month.

You can upgrade or downgrade between plans by going to ‘account settings’ by hovering over your profile icon in the top right of the screen and then selecting ‘account billing’ from the left-hand side menu.

Then click ‘choose a different plan’.

Can You Get a Refund?

I’m not sure.

The ClickFunnels Terms and Conditions say that you can get a ‘limited refund’ for HARD GOODS (books etc).

But I couldn’t find anything that specifically said that you can get a refund for the ClickFunnels funnel building service.

If you know more – please update us in the comments section at the end of the post.

How Can You Cancel Your ClickFunnels Subscription?

From the same ‘account billing’ menu click on the ‘cancel account’ tab.

Then click the yellow ‘cancel my subscription’ button.

I believe that this must be done no later than 24 hours before your 14 day free trial expires to avoid being billed.

I cancelled and then decided to rejoin – I had to contact customer support to do this.

Other ClickFunnels Products

ClickFunnels has quite a few individual products for sale.

And because ClickFunnels practice what they preach – it can sometimes be quite difficult to figure out when you’re actually being upsold on an additional service.

Is ClickFunnels a Scam or Legit?

In my opinion?

ClickFunnels is a legitimate service that can help you grow your online business and is absolutely NOT a scam.

ClickFunnels does have an affiliate program but it doesn’t rely on downlines to make money – so this isn’t an MLM (‘multi-level marketing’) scheme.

ClickFunnels isn’t a pyramid scheme because there’s an actual service being sold that provides value outside the scope of the affiliate scheme.

ClickFunnels isn’t a Ponzi scheme because they aren’t taking money from new members to pay existing ones.

I think the only way that you might end up thinking that ClickFunnels is a scam is if you join up expecting the service to teach you how to earn money from scratch.

And if that’s what you’re trying to do – then the next part of this ClickFunnels review is for you.

How to Make Money With ClickFunnels in 5 Steps

If you’re sat looking at the ClickFunnels sales page with no business to speak of – but a burning desire to start making money online – then pay attention.

Because I’m now going to show you how to make money with ClickFunnels from scratch using the EXACT technique that’s worked for me.

I’m going to link off to other resources so that this ClickFunnels review doesn’t end up being a million words long.

Here’s the basic 5 step process.

1: Choose a Niche

If you don’t have a product to sell – then the simple solution is to sell other people’s products as an affiliate marketer.

You make money from affiliate marketing when someone clicks your unique affiliate link and makes a purchase.

I have generated £100s from a single affiliate sale before.

There are affiliate networks for just about every product or service that you can think of purchasing online.

So the idea here is to come up with a ‘niche’ (specific subject) that you can build an online business around and make affiliate sales from.

Examples of niches could include: making money online from surveys, how to lose weight if you’re over 40, meditation, and so on.

Your niche should be something that you’re genuinely interested in.

Click here to learn how to choose a niche properly with Wealthy Affiliate.

(Do lessons 1-3).

2: Build a Website

The next step is to build a website that you can drive traffic to.

You’ll then send some of that traffic to your ClickFunnels sales funnels.

Setting up a website is easy.

Click here to learn how to set up your website with Wealthy Affiliate.

(Do lessons 4-8).

3: Get Traffic

You can always pay to send traffic to your ClickFunnels sales funnels.

But unless you already know how to do this effectively – I advise using free traffic to avoid losing money.

The most effective way to get free traffic to your website is to write keyword focused blogs and product reviews that will rank in Google and capture traffic that is interested in your core affiliate offer.

You can then divert some of that traffic to your ClickFunnels sales funnel.

Click here to learn more about keywords and traffic with Wealthy Affiliate.

(Do lessons 9-10).

4: Use The Bridge Funnel

This is where ClickFunnels comes into play.

The Bridge Funnel can be used by affiliate marketers to capture both a sale and a lead’s email address in one go.

Basically, you direct your traffic to a squeeze page that headlines the core benefit of your affiliate offer (the hook).

For example – a supplement that helped me lose 10lbs in 2 weeks by going into ketosis (fat burning state).

The lead then inputs their email address to learn the name of the product.

Upon doing so, the user is redirected to the ‘thank you’ (bridge) page where I presell them on the benefits of ketosis and how the affiliate supplement helped me get into ketosis FASTER.

I then have affiliate links embedded into the page – with relevant calls to action – so the user can click through to find out more about the supplement and buy it (which is what will result in a profit).

Click here to get started with the ClickFunnels Bridge Funnel.

(Oh, and here’s a video of Russell visualising how the Bridge Funnel works):

Video credit: Russell Brunson – ClickFunnels

5: Email Follow Up

But wait.

What was the point of capturing the lead’s email address?

It’s so that you can follow up with them with more information that helps them see the benefit of the product that you revealed to them on the thank you page.

For example, I might use before and after photographs in a ‘case study’ email to show the prospect the physical benefits of using the recommended supplement.

This sort of ‘following up’ via email is crucial to making more affiliate sales because it typically takes a user several points of contact with a product before they are ready to buy.

I was able to use ClickFunnels’ integration option for Aweber to seamlessly collect email addresses on the front end and then follow up on the back end with my own custom emails inside Aweber.

Summary

As I said – you could create your Bridge Funnel with ClickFunnels and then just send paid traffic to it.

This would completely remove the need for your own website.

But unless you are an advanced funnel builder this could result in a loss of money because it takes a fair bit of trial and error to get a campaign producing a positive ROI (‘make money’).

Hence why I recommend setting up a website to capture free traffic that you can divert to your ClickFunnels sales funnels.

Plus, you can monetise your website in additional ways such as display ads.

ClickFunnels Reviews

I’ll get to my own thoughts on ClickFunnels in just a moment.

But I had a look around online for some other ClickFunnels reviews from other users and they were overwhelmingly positive.

Good ClickFunnels Reviews

ClickFunnels has a perfect 5/5 star rating on Trustpilot based on an aggregate of 136 reviews at the time of writing.

You can read them for yourself here.

Some of the reviews were for the ClickFunnels ‘One Funnel Away Challenge’ – which is a separate product that is more of a training guide for how to use ClickFunnels to grow your business.

Screenshot of ClickFunnels reviews on Trustpilot.

ClickFunnels Complaints

The few ClickFunnels complaints that I came across on the same Trustpilot thread pertained to:

  • Problems getting a refund.
  • Slow customer support.

My Thoughts On ClickFunnels

I’ve been using ClickFunnels for a few months now and here are my honest thoughts.

1: ClickFunnels WORKS!

In my opinion?

ClickFunnels works pretty much as Russell describes in the sales videos.

For example, I was previously cross filtering my traffic from my blog posts to my homepage for the purpose of collecting email addresses.

Using the old Aweber form embedded above the fold, my opt in was converting at a fairly lousy 10% based on a decent sample size.

But I recently switched this out for the EXACT same Bridge Funnel that I showed you in the how to make money with ClickFunnels section.

And my opt ins have now skyrocketed to just over 50%!

Screenshot of increased opt ins stats for ClickFunnels Bridge Funnel.

2: Joining ClickFunnels Increased My Marketing Skills

I haven’t yet signed up to the One Funnel Away Challenge.

But just reading through the Funnel Hackers Cookbook and building some basic funnels has actually increased my marketing knowledge significantly.

I’ve already made 5 figures online from affiliate marketing with just a ‘basic’ website.

But actually looking at how sales funnels are created has changed the way I think about how my website makes money.

So even if you think you ‘know’ marketing – I reckon you’ll still benefit from ClickFunnels.

3: ClickFunnels Eases The Technical Pains

Ok.

There’s still a learning curve when it comes to using ClickFunnels for the first time.

And yes – you may feel a little overwhelmed if you’ve never looked at the back office of a website before.

But I can tell you from first-hand, keyboard-smashing, brain-melting experience that putting together a sales funnel with ClickFunnels is infinitely easier than trying to bootstrap the process using several different WordPress plugins and page builders.

This means that I can now focus on actually building out my funnels based on logic – instead of working around technical limitations.

Pros

  • Increased my conversions (more money).
  • Pretty easy to use.
  • Works for just about any business.
  • Outstanding customer reviews.
  • Can improve your marketing skills.
  • Legit business.

Cons

  • Unclear refund policy.
  • Possibly overwhelming at first.

Conclusion: A Powerful Sales Tool For ANY Business

In my opinion?

ClickFunnels is an essential purchase for just about any online business owner.

Because as my own example illustrated, simply switching from the Aweber opt in form to the ClickFunnels Bridge Funnel – my opt in rate went from 10% to more than 50%.

So even if you’re just an affiliate marketer looking to grow your email list – I highly recommend ClickFunnels.

And as I said, just working through the instructional information raised my marketing IQ significantly.

ClickFunnels is a very powerful sales tool when used correctly.

One that could potentially transform your website from a place where people simply get lost and don’t do anything…

To a platform that sucks in leads and turns them into paying customers 24/7.

ClickFunnels is my #1 recommendation for online business owners who are ready to take their sales to the next level.
