I first joined Wealthy Affiliate as a premium member in 2015.
And since then, I’ve made £1,000s in passive income by applying the strategies taught inside the Wealthy Affiliate ‘University’.
But before you jump in with both feet.
Just listen to what I have to say in this Wealthy Affiliate review.
Because it might just save you from wasting years of your life in a deluded fog of frustration.
Wealthy Affiliate Isn’t a Scam
But you’ll need to follow their training correctly AND consistently to get results.
I know this first hand.
You see, when I first joined Wealthy Affiliate – I was super-sceptical about the whole thing.
I didn’t really believe that what they were teaching was legit.
So, I ended up half-heartedly following the training – whilst flip-flopping from one ‘make money online’ program to the next around the web.
This was my biggest mistake.
Follow a Proven Formula
Because after a while, I started to think that Wealthy Affiliate didn’t work.
But I was totally wrong.
After reading the reams and reams of Wealthy Affiliate success stories – I started to realise that the problem was ME!
Not Wealthy Affiliate.
So, I stopped messing about with the other ‘get rich quick’ programmes that didn’t work.
And focused ONLY on the Wealthy Affiliate training.
That’s when I finally started to make money:
Wealthy Affiliate Success Stories
There are plenty of Wealthy Affiliate success stories that make my initial results look like nothing.
For example, Eddy regularly makes between four and five figures each month.
$5,430.77 in One Month
‘bthiel’ broke the $5,000 in one month mark from one website.
But only once he too realised that he had to follow Wealthy Affiliate’s training properly:
$50,000 in One Year
VitaliyG was able to make more than fifty grand in one year.
That was way back in 2015.
And he’s still going strong today.
Building a $1,000,000+ Business With Wealthy Affiliate
One very successful member is DomW.
In 3 years, he went from nothing.
To earning more than $10,000 each month.
And in 2017, his business recorded $1,067,286.00 in revenue!
With sales exceeding $40,000 in one weekend for his HumanProofDesigns website:
Image credit: ‘$40,000 In One Weekend’.
And he did all of this starting from scratch with Wealthy Affiliate.
My personal example, by comparison, is significantly more modest!
But it proves that if you put in a bit of effort and give the process some time.
You can most definitely make extra money from doing affiliate marketing the ‘Wealthy Affiliate way’.
And then all you need to do is ‘scale out’ to amplify your profits.
Just like Dom did.
What is Wealthy Affiliate?
Wealthy Affiliate is an affiliate marketing training platform.
They provide you with the educational resources and tools to help you set up your own website(s) that generates income by promoting other peoples’ products via affiliate links.
Wealthy Affiliate originally started out as a keyword provider for people looking to grow their PPC (‘pay-per-click’) campaigns.
Today, however, the focus is on training and technology.
With keyword development being chiefly handled by their associated Jaaxy platform.
What is the Wealthy Affiliate University?
The Wealthy Affiliate ‘University’ is a reference to their two core affiliate training modules:
I’ll explain a bit more about each very soon.
But here’s an overview of the modules included in the Bootcamp Affiliate Marketing Training section:
Who Owns Wealthy Affiliate?
Wealthy Affiliate was founded by Kyle and Carson in 2005 (pictured below).
And there’s a chap called Jay who runs the live training webinars each week.
At the time of writing, Kyle claims that they now employ 25 staff and have over 1.4 million members.
How Much Does it Cost to Join Wealthy Affiliate?
Then take the first month for $19.
After that, you pay $49 each month for full access.
There’s also the option to pay $359 for a year’s access.
(Which is often reduced further as part of their annual Wealthy Affiliate ‘Black Friday’ deal).
What Do You Get When You Join Wealthy Affiliate for FREE?
Here’s what’s currently available to you when you join up for free at Wealthy Affiliate:
- Online Entrepreneur Certification – 10 lessons (out of 50);

To be fair, that’s quite a lot in exchange for no money at all!
What Do You Get When You Join Wealthy Affiliate Premium?
Going premium gives you unlimited access to what Wealthy Affiliate has to offer.
In addition to the FREE features, you’ll also get:
- 24/7/365 managed website hosting and performance monitoring;
- Technical support for your websites (ticket-based);
- The SiteContent writing platform – which also compresses your images to improve page-speed performance;
- Plagiarism checker;
- Unlimited keyword searches with Jaaxy and 100 ‘ranking’ searches;
- Full access to the Wealthy Affiliate community;
- Ambassadorship Program access.
Here’s a closer look at some of the key premium features.
1: Online Entrepreneur Certification Training – Make Money in Your Chosen Niche
This is the central training.
It walks you through the process of building a profitable online business in your chosen topic.
The training is divided into five modules:
- Getting started in the world of affiliate marketing;
- How to quickly set up your website;
- How to make money;
- How to use social media;
- How to create content that converts.
I used this process to build several profitable websites in the ‘matched betting’ and ‘tipping service’ niches.
2: Affiliate Bootcamp Training – Make Money Promoting Wealthy Affiliate
This is basically the same as the Online Entrepreneur Certification Training.
Except you’ll be told specifically how to promote Wealthy Affiliate and earn money via their in-house affiliate program.
There’s also a greater emphasis on PPC (‘pay-per-click’) and paid advertising in the Bootcamp series.
I’ll shortly explain why you might want to think twice before choosing to only promote Wealthy Affiliate.
3: Ongoing Training – Weekly Webinars, Community Classrooms, and Live Chat
The weekly webinars hosted by Jay show you how to tackle specific areas of internet marketing in greater depth.
This fills in a lot of the ‘gaps’ in the basic training courses.
- Custom CSS styling;
- Email marketing;
- How to build trust in your niche;
- Making money with YouTube.
Each episode is recorded so that you can watch it in your own time.
I’ve found the webinars to be easy to understand and highly actionable.
So, they are well worth checking out in my opinion.
You can also ask questions and interact with other Wealthy Affiliate members in the classrooms and via the Live Chat feature on the home page.
‘Community’ is a core focus inside Wealthy Affiliate.
4: Managed WordPress Hosting – Website Creation Simplified
Wealthy Affiliate uses the SiteRubix website builder platform.
This means that you can purchase domains, set up your website, get a free SSL certificate, leverage speed enhancements, and protect your websites using their proprietary security features in just a couple of clicks.
If you’re a technophobe – the SiteRubix platform can vastly simplify the mechanics of creating and maintaining a website.
But advanced users may find this ‘training wheels’ approach too restrictive (more on this later).
5: Technical Support – Fix Problems Quickly
If something goes wrong with one of your Wealthy Affiliate hosted websites – you can raise a support ticket with their hosting team.
Who will investigate the issue and either fix it for you – or explain what you need to do to resolve the matter.
Offloading such responsibilities to their technical team means that you can spend more time on creating content.
And making money 🙂
6: Website Comments – Engage with Real Visitors and Boost Your Rankings
Have you ever noticed that websites ranking on the first page of Google tend to have a lot of comments on their blog posts?
This is because helpful content sparks engagement.
Which Google’s algorithms take into consideration when ranking content.
Wealthy Affiliates’ ‘Site Comments’ feature allows you to get real on-page comments on your website from other members.
The idea is that this will help boost your page rankings and overall site authority.
7: SiteContent – Optimise Your Web-Copy Quickly
For a lot of people, writing is not their favourite activity.
But getting visitors to their websites and making money is!
That’s why Wealthy Affiliate released their SiteContent feature.
To help you quickly write content that’s specifically designed for the web.
How Do You Make Money With Wealthy Affiliate?
You don’t really ‘make’ money with Wealthy Affiliate.
(Unless you only use their affiliate programme).
Instead, they provide you with the educational resources and tools to best leverage your efforts in the field of affiliate marketing.
The basic money-making process ‘inside’ Wealthy Affiliate follows this 4-step process:
- Choose an interest;
- Build a website;
- Get visitors;
- Earn affiliate commissions.
Wealthy Affiliate teaches the SEO (‘search engine optimisation’) style of affiliate marketing.
This means that you write content around ‘keywords’ with the aim of getting them to rank on the first page of Google.
This results in visitors.
Which then leads to people making purchases via your affiliate links.
Thus, making you money.
Does it Work?
SEO-based affiliate marketing is a 100% legitimate, tried and tested way to make money online.
It’s also the exact same strategy that a lot of ‘real’ brick and mortar business use to branch out into the online world.
For example, if I type ‘buy golf clubs’ into Google – I can see that the top results are companies who sell golf clubs:
No surprise there.
But with so many brands competing for those keywords, these companies have edged out their rivals by using SEO tactics.
And that’s exactly what you’ll learn inside Wealthy Affiliate.
But will you make money from affiliate marketing if you follow Wealthy Affiliate’s training and advice?
Well, I did (eventually).
But a lot of people don’t.
There’s a multitude of things that could go wrong.
But most folks fail simply because they give up too soon.
The truth is that it takes time to make money with affiliate marketing – especially if you’re taking the SEO route.
But don’t let this put you off.
Follow my upcoming advice.
And you’ll be well positioned to make money with Wealthy Affiliate.
How Much Money Can Be Made?
That’s super difficult to answer.
Because it really depends on how much time you put in.
And how well monetised your niche is.
As you can see, in 2017 I made $10,893.77 by promoting just a couple of ClickBank’s products using Wealthy Affiliates’ SEO-based strategies:
This was from just ONE small-scale website.
And it was passive income.
Meaning that I was free to work on other projects whilst my content continued to make me money.
As I’ve already illustrated, there are plenty of ‘success stories’ to be found inside Wealthy Affiliate that eclipse what I have achieved.
Can the Process Be Sped Up?
To some extent.
You can get leads (people who’re ready to buy things) to your website almost immediately using Facebook ads, PPC, and other paid advertising channels.
The downside is that this can get costly if you don’t know what you’re doing.
Thankfully, there’s additional training inside Wealthy Affiliate if you’d like to apply these ‘commercial’ strategies.
Personally, I actually prefer the ‘slower’ SEO route.
(Example: I used Wealthy Affiliate’s training to get 11,503 organic clicks to one of my betting websites in 90 days).
And not just because it’s free.
But because it allows me to establish a reputable brand that I can leverage for years to come.
Eventually, you’ll probably end up combining both strategies.
My 3-Year Wealthy Affiliate Review (Plus Top Tips for Success)
Below, I’ve expanded on the points made above.
I’ve also included some tips to help you speed up and improve your results when using Wealthy Affiliate.
If you’ve still got questions – leave them in the comments section at the end of the post.
And I’ll get back to you ASAP.
1: Start with the Online Entrepreneur Certification Training Option
This will give you the opportunity to explore which niche is right for you.
There’s nothing wrong with promoting Wealthy Affiliate through their Bootcamp training.
But the ‘make money online’ niche is super competitive.
So it will typically take you a lot longer to see results.
Plus, you’ve got a better chance of success if you’re actually interested in your niche.
2: Spend a Lot of Time Researching Your Niche and their Problems
However, it’s not enough to just be ‘passionate’ about your niche.
You need to make sure that you’re providing monetised solutions to a starving audience’s burning problems.
Picking a niche is covered in Lesson 3 of the Online Entrepreneur Certification – Level 1.
Do NOT skip this section.
It’s my personal opinion that you’ll make more money if you build your business around solving a highly emotive problem.
For example, making money online, losing weight, or finding a partner.
You can then narrow these niches down further to identify your target audience.
For example, college students trying to make extra money online whilst they study so they don’t have to get a job.
3: You Don’t HAVE to Host with Wealthy Affiliate
If you’re a total tech-novice, then building your first ever website is probably best done using Wealthy Affiliate’s SiteRubix install-wizard.
That’s exactly what I did.
And initially – it worked well.
However, as I required more advanced features adding to my website, I found the lack of cPanel access and the list of prohibited plugins too restrictive.
But the good news is that you can set up your websites with Wealthy Affiliate and ‘move’ them later – if you so wish.
4: Don’t Invest Too Heavily in Site Comments
Yes, it’s generally true that websites that have a lot of user engagement tend to rank better than those that don’t.
But I’d argue that it’s more important to create content that’s of such high quality – people are compelled to comment on it!
Because after all, Google is looking to rank the most helpful content on a subject.
And not the content with the greatest number of random comments.
Personally, I found the ‘Give and Take’ thread more useful for getting high quality engagement than the actual Site Comments platform.
5: Be Careful Who You Listen To
I’ve learned a lot from folks like Jay inside the Wealthy Affiliate community.
But it’s worth noting that a lot of the people who’ll answer your questions are affiliate marketing novices – or intermediates at best.
It would appear that those who have done well are actually spending time working on their websites.
And not creating ‘motivational’ blog posts inside Wealthy Affiliate!
If you go to ‘Help Centre’ on your dashboard, you can find out where to get good help, support, and advice from people who know what they’re talking about 🙂
Here are the usernames of a few folks whose help and support has been invaluable to me over the years:
- Marcus WFHW.
And there’s definitely more – I just can’t remember them all!
Most people fail with Wealthy Affiliate because they lose focus and give up too soon.
And in the early stages, I strongly advise that you remove all distractions, follow the training, and implement it immediately.
But at the same time, you shouldn’t become ‘brain-washed’ by the Wealthy Affiliate way either.
So, as you become more experienced, it’s definitely worth checking out other online marketing resources such as:
- The Warrior Forum (https://www.warriorforum.com/);
- Neil Patel (https://neilpatel.com/);
- Eric Louviere (https://ericlouviere.com/);
- Pat Flynn (https://www.smartpassiveincome.com/);
- Ramit Sethi (https://www.iwillteachyoutoberich.com/).
Just don’t ‘flip-flop’ between strategies or try to implement every single thing that you read.
Otherwise, you’ll waste a lot of time and burn out.
7: Give Yourself a Year
I’ve discovered that ‘time’ is the most significant factor when it comes to succeeding in affiliate marketing.
So, follow the Wealthy Affiliate training for at least a year.
Just focus on one niche.
Create high-value content 3-5 times each week.
Don’t try to sell too much in your product reviews.
And I’ll bet that you’ll end up making money 🙂

Wealthy Affiliate Review Conclusion: A Legit Way to Make Money Online
Here’s the bottom line.
When I tried to do affiliate marketing by myself – I made almost no money at all.
But when I used the Wealthy Affiliate training to build an online business in the ‘matched betting’ and ‘tipping service’ niches – I made £1,000s in passive income.
For me, that’s enough proof to say that Wealthy Affiliate is a legitimate way to make money online.
Who Should NOT Join Wealthy Affiliate?
Wealthy Affiliate was my key to success in the affiliate marketing world.
But the very nature of trying to generate passive income makes it unsuitable for some folks.
In my opinion, you should not join Wealthy Affiliate if you’re:
- In serious financial difficulty;
- Trying to pay off debts quickly;
- Looking to get rich quick.
Setting up an online business with Wealthy Affiliate doesn’t take all that long.
But it’s going to be at least 6 – 12 months before that same business starts to make any money at all.
So, if you’re in need of money right away – Wealthy Affiliate is NOT for you.
Wealthy Affiliate – Perfect if You’re Ready to Build a Profitable Online Business
Wealthy Affiliate is best suited to those who are committed to the process of building a profitable online business.
Yes, it’s going to take time.
But the financial returns could be enough to allow you to quit your job.
Or at the very least – generate a passive income doing something you enjoy.
And following Wealthy Affiliate’s training is probably the quickest way to start taking effective action.
So… are you ready to invest in your future?
And you can begin immediately.
